Lush is a company that has expanded their product range into so many different directions. Sometimes, these expansions end up less popular and they get canceled somewhere down the line. Some of their expansions are phenomenal and they attract whole groups of fans, on their own. Lush's Gorilla Perfumes are one of those amazing products. Every one is potent, unique and strong. Sure, some smells are not suited to some people but the range and quality of perfumes that Lush makes are absolutely astonishing.
Lady Bubble and Lord Fizz were given an amazing gift by a friend, two bottles of lovely Gorilla Perfumes. One of them from the Gorilla Volume 3 collection, Princess Cottongrass and a long-loved classic from the Gorilla Volume 2 collection, Devil's Nightcap. We thought it would be a kind gesture to appreciate these perfumes as much as possible and write about their every detail! So, in this post, we will explore the light and fanciful smell of Princess Cottongrass!

Princess Cottongrass 2017 Label |
There is a wind blowing hard in your face, it lifts your hair and cools your skin. The hot sun warms you, in contrast, as you stroll across a mid-summer neon green grass covered hill, The wind carries the blossoms of life around you, pollen and chlorophyll, blossoms and leaves. As you reach the thin stream nestled between the feet of your hill and the next, the freshness of its' crystal clear water and the scent of grass and nettle blooms dance around your head. You lay back in the soft grass and look up at the clear blue sky and sigh. The smell of Princess Cottongrass combines this fresh summer smell with the clean sweetness of blooming flowers and it is yours, bottled and preserved as a fantastic perfume.
Princess Cottongrass has a very distinct smell that some people may not like. It is very floral and slightly sweet. It has a combination of flower elements that almost make it hard to identify though. One a first smell you can get the top note of mixed nettle absolute and pine oil. They are both tempered by the bitterness of neroli oil and the sweetness of violet oil. It is a very refreshing floral smell but more earthy than sweet by any means.
Unfortunately, the smell does not seem to persist very well and after two or three hours, it is carried off by the breeze. If this is a smell that you love though, you may be in luck because it does not seem to change very much. From the moment of application to the moment when it is just a memory, it persists as the magical summer wind that it is. It seems to be a rather heady smell and in hot and humid weather it may be a little overwhelming to people that have a sensitive nose and constitution to fragrance.
This is another bottle with the new 2017 designs. Gone are the customized pictures and artwork that adorned these bottles in the past. Now, we have black and white labels. These do allow for a degree of class and elegance that was denied by the cartoon designs of old but they are all a little...the same.
