Mother's Day 2018 marked a new era for Lush product design. The new 3-D printed mold soaps, the frivolous design of the Mum, Look What I've Made For You bath bomb, among others, has really shown us a new side of Lush. One of these paradigm-changing products seems to be the Marbled Bubbleroons. Notably, the loudest voices at the time of the first leaked pictures of them all said they were a departure from Lush style and not what a true Lush fan would want. However, those voices quickly found that they had stuck their feet in the mouth as the popularity of most of the Mother's Day range has been tremendous.

Purple Drain Bubbleroon |
Here is one of these new-style products, The Purple DrainMarbled Bubbleroon. Named with Prince's Purple Rain in mind, this is a bath product that may indeed have captured the interest of the Mermaid of Minnetonka with its spicy and mysterious scent. This is another of many products that Lush has begun to use black pepper oil in. The essential oil has a deeper and sweeter depth to it than what we use in our kitchens and it really makes this an exciting product to smell.
Having some of the great dreamy spice smells in it, black pepper, clove bud, and peppermint oils, the cloud of scented mist that rolls out from your bathtub, when you use Purple Drain, is as entrancing as it is addicting. All of the smells mix very well, nothing stands out too much. It is not overly spicy or overly minty. Lord Fizz loves the smell of this and finds it to be a great addition to the collection while Lady Bubble Likes it less than him and says it is a little too spicy for her tastes.
Like any bubbleroon, this one is made with two pieces of bubble bar sandwiching a thick layer of softening murumuru butter and shea butter. The dark purple color of this bubbleroon is great and is a special color to have in your bath. Be careful though, as Lush purples typically do fade after some time without proper storage and care.

The color of this bubbleroon translates to the water well and leaves the bather with a deep Prince-worthy purple. Plus, the addition of all of the extra kinds of butter in Purple Drain will make it a very moisturizing bath. If you are looking for a sexy purple bath color, this little bubble stack can surely provide.
The marbling part of this product comes from the potentially beautiful piece of art on top of the bubbleroon. It is made by dipping the top of the completed bubble sandwich into a cornstarch mixture after dripping some blue and purple coloring into the bowl holding the mixture. As this mixture is made very much so, by hand, it really does leave a lot of room for artistic potential and, on the other hand, a chance for the ugly monster to slip in. So far, Lady Bubble and Lord Fizz have bought two of these bubble bars and none of them have been as beautiful as the ones shown on the websites.
It is hard to not recommend this product. It smells great, produces a great bath and could be very beautiful. Word of caution to the savvy shopper though, check your marbling before you buy or you could end up with a plain smear of purple on top of your Purple Drain.
